Karrie Steely is a studio artist, writer, instructor and rural community builder living in rural Nebraska. Originally from Colorado, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University Fort Collins. She has worked as a graphic designer, muralist, ceramics instructor, English as a Second Language instructor, in special education, master gardening, horse training, writing, editing, and blogging.

She and her partner live, work and create on their homestead farm in south central Nebraska. Her art is inspired by life, landscapes, and found objects on the farm and on winter migrations to the desert southwest.

Her artwork has been exhibited in Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas. Her recent projects include a community mural in McCook, Nebraska and active involvement in community development and leadership in the creation of the McCook Creative District. She is a 2023 Rural Regenerator Fellow with Springboard for the Arts.
